Our Dream of a community center home is nearly a reality, and you can help make it come true!
For over 17 years, Moriches Community Center has helped prevent thousands of local youth from engaging in negative behaviors like bullying and substance use by offering quality programs and activities for free or reduced prices. We have also provided Outreach assistance to hundreds of Moriches Bay area families, and our community prevention coalition, Moriches Bay in the kNOw has worked to prevent teen substance use and educate parents and others on the current addiction crisis. A community center building would allow us to expand our program offerings and better serve ALL residents of the Moriches Bay area.
Now we need your help!
At a public hearing on Thursday, July 20th at 5pm the Town of Brookhaven Board members will be voting to authorize a license agreement for MCC to use the old Knights of Columbus Hall as our new community center home! Please attend if you are able, and show your support for Moriches Community Center and our dream of a more permanent home!
If you cannot attend the hearing, please take the time to write a very short letter of support which we will pass along to the Town Board. What have MCC programs meant to you and your family? Did we help your child to make more positive life choices? Did participation in a program boost your child’s self confidence, or encourage leadership skills in them? Were you able to provide Christmas for your family thanks to our Outreach donations? Any words of support would be helpful.
All letters may be emailed by noon on Thursday, July 20 to
Our dear, departed Co-Director, Anthony Parlato would say, here is your chance to “Help someone today!”
Mark your calendar! Thursday, July 20 at 5pm at Town Hall, One Independence Hill, Farmingville. We are grateful for your support!
